Summary

Development of demos of oceanographic models of Azores ready for High Performance Computing (HPC).

Introduction

This project focused on developing HPC-ready demonstrators of oceanographic models for the Azores. The work covered the marine region between Faial and Pico island and aimed to support more accurate and potentially faster simulations through containerized model deployment. Two modelling approaches were prepared: a wave propagation model based on REEF3D and a tide/current model based on MOHID.

Results

The project delivered working demonstrators of oceanographic models adapted for HPC, showing how wave and tide/current simulations for the Azores can be prepared for more efficient execution in a supercomputing environment. This created a practical basis for faster, more scalable regional marine simulations and future digital-ocean applications.
