Project Overview

In May 2024, Hydrotwin technology was deployed in the Azores to test its capabilities for real-time underwater soundscape monitoring. The project aimed to assess the technology’s performance in detecting both anthropogenic noise from maritime traffic and the presence of marine life, particularly cetaceans such as whales and dolphins that migrate through the region. With the Azores serving as an international hub for shipping, offshore activities, and marine conservation, the region was an ideal setting to test Hydrotwin’s dual focus on environmental protection and maritime security.
